PROJECT WEEK: a time to serve

Always a very popular project, more than 100 Prep students participated in the A Time to Serve community service project during the Prep's annual Travel/Project Week January 3-7.

What a fabulous way to start the New Year! They started the week by creating hygiene kits and assembling information packets for the Family Resource Center. On Tuesday, they went to Action Partnership and filled 2,040 boxes with food for senior citizens throughout Orange County. Wednesday and Thursday they traveled to Second Harvest Food Bank and filled another 1,543 boxes, but this time for low income families. The juniors and seniors beautified Yorba Regional Park by pulling thousands of weeds, and the freshmen and sophomores helped Giving Children Hope by restocking their pantry and sorting medical supplies. Once they returned to school each day the students continued their service by making wands for the Kriste's Foundation's festival and creating treat bags for the local animal shelter. On Friday, they ended the week by donating $2,500 to Cystic Fibrosis and celebrating at Concourse Bowl. The week was a great success - thank you to all that participated and took the time to "Paws for a Cause!"
