The 2011 Area Code Games begin today, and we're cheering on one of our stellar students, Felipe Perez, who will be playing on the Southern California team, sponsored by the Milwaukee Brewers! There will be 20 games over the next six days played on Blair Field, and four of them will be televised on Tuesday on ESPN3: Reds-Brewers (8:30a.m.), Royals-Nationals (11:30a.m.), White Sox-Nationals (2:30p.m.) and A's-Yankees (5:30p.m.). The Area Code Games began in 1987 in California and went national in the mid-90s. Now there are eight teams, each sponsored by a major league team. For a full roster and list of all the Brewers games, check out this Press Telegram article.
Felipe is an invaluable member of the baseball team at Fairmont Prep, and he recently played on the USA Baseball’s 2010 16 and Under National Team. As a junior, he accepted an invitation to play baseball at UCLA after he graduates next May. He will play pitcher when he becomes a Bruin. Be sure to tune in to ESPN3 on Tuesday at 8:30am to see him play against the Reds!
