Do you have what it takes to be a hero?

Do you have what it takes to be a hero?

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. These 44,000 units of blood are needed every day come from selfless individuals. This February 23rd, Fairmont Prep’s Red Cross Club will host a blood drive during school for students and faculty willing to provide blood for those in need. Every donor will be awarded with numerous prizes, including two free Galaxy tickets, a free t-shirt, and much more. All individuals above the age of seventeen can sign up and attend the drive, while sixteen year-olds must get a parent’s permission slip signed. Parents are also welcome to donate. Every year, five million patients are in need of a blood transfusion, and each donor can save up to three lives.  Still it is important that the Fairmont Prep students and faculty step up and provide as much blood as possible for the less fortunate. While everyone is welcome sign up for donation, only 37% of the world’s population qualifies for giving blood. For this reason, those who have such special credentials should step up and make the best of this life-changing opportunity. More information will be provided by Red Cross throughout the month of February. A hero is an individual with courage and ability. Every Fairmont student is a hero; let’s ALL use our powers for the good of others and donate.
