COMMUNITY SERVICE: Buddy Walk

On November 4th, Fairmont Prep students joined the Down Syndrome Association of Orange County (DSAOC) for the Buddy Walk at Angel’s Stadium.  DSAOC is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the greater Orange County Down Syndrome population and their families.  The Buddy Walk has become the premier advocacy event for Down Syndrome in the United States since 1995. During the event, Fairmont students were able to join other participants.  Live entertainment on the main stage included a band and reptile and wildlife presentations. Participants were able to purchase cotton candy, shaved ice, desserts and delicious food.

Fairmont students have been attending the Buddy Walk for several years and enjoyed this meaningful project to give back to the community. They were able to meet students from other schools and got to know individuals with Down Syndrome.  I encourage all Prep students to participate in the Buddy Walk next year!

  6. I really liked doing the Buddy Walk! We all enjoyed spending time together, but I wish that Mrs. Kunkle had let us stay longer!
