STUDENT ACTIVITIES: Debate Highlights


Fairmont Preparatory Academy's debate program is picking up steam under the leadership of Dr. Matthew Brandstetter, our Dean of Academics. The team has excelled in competition this semester, earning numerous awards, including: 

  • 2012 Novice Championship 
    • 4th Place in the School Sweepstakes 
    • 1st Place in Parliamentary Debate - Milan M. and Nicholas P. (undefeated record) 
    • 1st Place in National Extemporaneous - Kayla B.
  • CSUF High School Speech and Debate Tournament 
    • Semi-Finalists in Novice Parliamentary Debate - Nakul M. and Nathaly B. 
    • 5th Place Speaker Award Novice Parliamentary - Nakul M. 
    • 7th Place Speaker Award Varsity Parliamentary - Kayla B. 
  • High School Public Debate Program Tournament  
    • 3rd Place - School Tournament Award 
    • 2nd Place - School Overall Percentage of Debate Awards Won
    • 1st Place Team Debate - Austin K., Jessica C., Kayla B. 
    • 1st Place Speaker Award - Austin K. 
    • 2nd Place Speaker Award - Kayla B. 
  • Orange County Speech League Varsity Competition 
    • 1st Place in Extemporaneous Speaking - Kayla B. 
    • 1st Place in Public Forum Debate - Jessica C. and Kayla B. 
    • 1st Place Speaker Award - Austin K. 
    • 3rd Place in School Sweepstakes and Debate Division
