ACADEMICS: Survivial Guide to Finals Week

Survival Guide to Finals Week

As students cram last minute for their finals ranging from Differential Equations to AP Spanish, here are a few tips to survive finals week.

  1. Create a study guide. Summarize all the weeks of material learnt during first semester in 1-2 pages. This format will help you focus on the main ideas of the test such as key math formulas or English stylistic techniques.
  1. Manage your time. With only an hour and a half to take a test, make sure there is a clock located in the room or bring your own watch to ensure that you do not run out of time. If you find a tricky question, skip it and return to it later.
  1. Eat a healthy breakfast… lay off the energy drinks. Your brain needs food! Even if you usually skip breakfast, make an effort to eat something healthy such as a banana, which is full of potassium and other essential nutrients.
  1. Don’t pull an all nighter… AP Psychology students should be familiar with the idea that lack of sleep actually impairs performance. Your brain needs time to process all the information you studied so plan for at least eight hours of sleep the night before your final.
Finally…wish everyone good luck on their finals!!!  Good luck!
