Fairmont Prep’s boys varsity basketball team has gotten off to a fast start, winning their first three games for an undefeated season thus far. They are led by their new coach Ray Lokar, and their two senior captains, Justin Bredahl and Mark Rodrigues. Coach Lokar brings years of experience to Fairmont, winning a CIF championship at Bishop Amat high school and serving currently as president of the Positive Coaching Alliance.
He expressed his excitement for the season saying, “Im eager to see how far this team goes. They are a talented group of players, and if they can learn to play together, they will be very tough to beat.”
With only three returning players, the Huskies surely have a lot of learning ahead of them. After finishing 23 and 5 last season, they look forward to another successful year. The month of December will be a huge test for them, as they play in three tournaments, with approximately 15 games in 25 days. The Fairmont Prep varsity basketball team is ready for this challenge, as they have been practicing hard since the spring of 2012. If the new look Huskies can learn to play together, they will surely have success in the upcoming weeks, and make their school proud as they strive for yet another playoff birth.
