ACADEMICS: International Business Program

The International Business Program, an advanced program offered here at Fairmont Preparatory Academy encourages and nurtures motivated students to learn about the global business world in depth. IBP currently has over thirty students in the program and continues to evolve to offer great opportunities. Taught by a dedicated faculty, IBP stresses the importance of learning about global ethos in addition to business essentials such as finance and economics.

At the beginning of October, our IBP students had a chance to attend a seminar  by Mr. Joseph Plunkett, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Manufacturing and Engineering for Herbalife. Students had the opportunity to hear about the importance of adaptation in business, especially when operating as a global business. Mr.Plunkett taught IBP students the importance of statistics and analytics and how they must be maintained in tandem to all other logistics in order to run an effective business. In addition, he explained the importance of delegation and picking the right manufacturer when making a product for mass consumption.

The summer IBP Internship for 2016 has been announced! Fairmont students will have the chance to attend an entrepreneurship program under the direction of Startup Malaysia. This will be an exciting 10-day learning camp in which students will have the opportunity to master the art of a perfect pitch, learn about coding, and understand global business from a first hand perspective. In addition, our young entrepreneurs will have the chance to visit companies in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in order to see how companies are run on a day-to-day basis.

  7. This has been the 2nd year I am participating in the business program and I can say it is nothing short of amazing. Mrs. Hurley is a great director as she has business experience herself and the new teacher Dr. Dolan Garcia has been extremely helpful in my understanding of the Global Citizenship course of the program.
