STUDENT ACTIVITIES: Lunar New Year

Welcome back, Huskies, to a new semester and a new year! Our 1st semester has passed and now we face our last semester before summer break. According to the Asian calendar, the upcoming Lunar New Year will mark the end and start of another year. The day chosen is determined by the cycle of the moon. The Lunar New Year is an Asian celebration and for many Asians, it is the most important festivity of the year. For centuries in China's agrarian society, this was a rare period of rest for farmers. Asian families across the world gather together to celebrate the upcoming year on this day with great cheer. Although, customs vary across the world, most remain the same. Our Fairmont ASB wishes the best of luck for 2016! Happy New Year

  16. I had a lot of fun at the Lunar New Year celebration at school. I thought the scavenger hunt was such a good idea and to see everyone scramble for a goldfish while also partaking in different activities, it was really fun. I think this was one of the better celebrations that we've had.
